Eligibility is usually qualifying service and discharge. Families can pre-need apply so the cemetery packet is not built in a crisis week.
Who it is usually for.
Eligible veterans and their families planning burial or memorial items.
What to have in hand.
- DD-214
- Death certificate if filing after death
Moves.
- Read burial eligibility on VA.gov.
- Consider a pre-need application.
- Call the National Cemetery Scheduling Office when the time comes.
Timing hint: Pre-need is calmer than at-need.
