Credit Versio is do-it-yourself dispute software that runs on top of a SmartCredit three-bureau report; its pricing page lists plans from $27.95/month with unlimited disputes. 850ai is consumer dispute software that reads your Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion files, drafts a letter for each item, and then prints and mails it for you. The one real difference is who mails the letter. With Credit Versio, its own site says you send the disputes yourself. With 850ai, the letter goes out by USPS First Class with a postage stamp after you click send or Deploy.

Where Credit Versio is a good fit
- You want the lowest monthly price. At $27.95/month, the SmartCredit Basic plan costs less than half of 850ai’s cheapest plan, and the pricing page lists a 7-day trial for $1.
- You want all three bureaus in one place. Credit Versio imports a 3-bureau SmartCredit report each month, and its homepage says the import does not create a hard inquiry.
- You have many items to dispute. Both SmartCredit plans list “Unlimited Credit Versio Disputes,” so a file with dozens of accounts does not cost more in software fees.
- You don’t mind the mailing. If printing, stamping, and dropping letters at the post office every month is fine with you, you keep full control of every envelope and only pay postage on top.
Where 850ai is a better fit
- You want the letters mailed for you. 850ai prints each letter and sends it USPS First Class with a postage stamp on the envelope, not a meter strip. You still decide: nothing is mailed until you click send or Deploy.
- You want escalation past the bureau. 850ai tracks each dispute cycle and can escalate to the creditor that furnished the data and to a CFPB complaint. See how a CFPB complaint works.
- You want a letter per account, not a form letter. 850ai drafts an account-specific letter for each item it finds across Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion.
- You don’t want a second subscription. Credit Versio’s software is free only while you pay for SmartCredit. 850ai is one subscription (from $59.99/month) with mailing included in the workflow.
Online dispute, PDF, or a mailed letter
There are three common ways to send a dispute. An online form on the bureau’s website is quick, but it is not mail: you answer the bureau’s own prompts and there is no letter in your words. A PDF from dispute software is a letter, but it only becomes mail once you print it, address it, stamp it, and take it to the post office. A mailed letter is the finished step.
Credit Versio’s homepage says “letters are far more effective” than online disputes, and 850ai also sends letters. The practical difference is the last step. With Credit Versio you do the printing and mailing; with 850ai it is done once you approve. A stamped First Class letter is ordinary mail that a person has to open. That does not guarantee a bureau will change anything, and no tool can promise a deletion or a score increase. Accurate negative items can legally stay on a report.
If you would rather do it all yourself at no cost, you can: pull your reports at AnnualCreditReport.com and dispute free with each bureau. Our guide on how to dispute credit report errors walks through the steps for online, phone, and mailed disputes.
Is Credit Versio worth it?
For a consumer who wants a low monthly price, a 3-bureau report, and unlimited letters, and who is willing to mail them, Credit Versio is a reasonable buy at $27.95/month plus postage. Its own pages do not publish postage costs, and we did not find creditor or CFPB escalation described on its homepage or pricing page. If the monthly print-and-mail routine is the part you would skip, that is the job 850ai is built to take over.
